We support connecting veterans to recreational therapy programs that align with their personal interests. We believe that these types of programs help to restore purpose, rebuild strength and create community. Veteran Recreation Ohio funds programs that bring veterans together through therapeutic experiences such as fly fishing, hiking and yoga, that promote healing and connection. Our goal is simple: help veterans across Ohio reclaim peace, purpose, and joy in the country they once fought to protect.
Veteran Recreation Ohio is dedicated to funding and promoting programs that focus on improving mental health and quality of life for veterans in Ohio. We support all recreational therapeutic activities that empower and heal our veterans.

Each day, an average of nearly 22 veterans lose their lives to suicide. The familiar number “22 a day” has become a national symbol, but even one loss is far too many.
At Veteran Recreation Ohio, we’re working to change that by funding trusted programs that use recreation to improve mental health, build connection, and bring hope back into veterans’ lives. Every grant we award helps create safe, supportive spaces where veterans can rediscover purpose through activity and community.
